Cowtippers in Atlanta

Holy Cow! Such a great meal! We arrived 45 minutes before they closed so we had the place pretty much to ourselves. I called ahead to make sure it be okay and they were completely cool with closing around us because we are industry folk as well. My steak was an absolutely perfect medium rare. The coleslaw and baked beans were super yummy. My friend at a steak with a risotto that was to die for. Perfectly done. Way to knock it out of the park, Cowtippers!

Typical local steakhouse/American restaurant featuring an eclectic mix of food. However, the gay friendly vibes and "punny" ambiance make this a great place to hang out with exciting daily specials. It's close proximity to midtown and piedmont Park make this a good place to people watch. Service could be a bit quicker, but with such a great and expansive patio you'll have a great time waiting.

Decent Steakhouse and very LGBTQ friendly. I went on a Thursday night and they were showing a movie on a big screen on the patio drive in style. What fun. Did I say it has a Patio!

One of my very favorite places to eat in the Atlanta area. Absolutely deliciously seasoned Ribeye Steaks and cooked on a grill! Great Vodka Martinis of almost any flavor, or if you’d prefer, they have a great selection of beer!Eclectic diverse clientele and everybody seems to be there to have a great time. Get there a little early as parking is tight for the numbers of people! Even if you have to wait, it’ll be worth every minute!

The host was great and friendly as well as the waiter but was short-staffed. Rainbow friendly establishment food was on point. I would definitely hang out there again

They are open!!!! Great patio with good shade on a sunny day. Food was delicious and fresh. Service was slow to moderate, but all staff were very friendly. They honor military discount with a valid ID.

Love the big tree on the patio. Lovely night to sit outside. Food was mostly really good except the steak was under seasoned. No big deal. I would definitely go back and try the margaritas. Couldn't this time due to 9 months preggo!

Best filet I've ever had!

My favorite restaurant since the first time I visited in September 2015. I'm not from the area, but I like CowTippers so much that I went off a trip plan by 100 miles mainly to go to this restaurant. Every kind of meal is excellent, service is extremely kind, friendly and helpful. Even the specialty hamburgers are worthy of the best ratings.

My son and I both had the recommended by the waiter blackened steak: it was wonderful... appetizers were delicious... server Lance kept us laughing the whole time... enjoyable atmosphere

They have a good variety of menu items. The wait staff are friendly and courteous. Sadly, Cowtippers days may be numbered as their slice of real estate may possibly be sold to Chase Bank for a new banking center

Cowtippers is iconic. I remember when it was the restaurant to go to in the gay community. This visit was pretty good, at least for me. I had dinner with friends before we went to see the lights in the Gardens. My food was good, but one of my friends' kabobs was not good, they actually seemed to taste bad. The service was okay, but considering the number of patrons, the service should have been better.

A casual steakhouse with great steak is hard to come by. The steak was cooked to order-a medium rare and medium. The mashed potatoes and broccoli were delicious. Parking was easy in their parking lot. The outside patio was perfect for the great weather. The price was fair for the quality of meat. However, the service was slow, no refills, had to ask another server walking by for some togo boxes and the check.

Good place for American Cuisine. I had the 12 oz Rib-eye with jalapeno sauce on it, mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. The steak was prepared as asked and the sauce was good and sweet. I expected a little kick but it wasn't there from the jalapeno. The mashed potatoes and gravy were amazing comfort food, well done. And the green beans are not out of a can, fresh, crisp and good! Beers on tap always a welcome option at restaurants. Well done. Our waiter Matty was great, took good care of us.

Good service with friendly people and tasty food

Service is wonderful as always. They are extremely accommodating I've been with a large and small party and the food was fresh and fast both times. The staff will make you feel at home, they really create a welcoming experience. I really like this beautiful hideout.

Amazing staff, DELICIOUS SPINACH DIP (best I've had), surprisingly great steaks (yummy sirloin)!!! make sure to get your mashed potatoes loaded!!!!

They do a good pour for the drinks and the burgers are killer and sized right, cooked and assembled with care. The staff is real nice and helpful, and they are open late. Love the strong drinks

This is just a wonderful restaurant and boasts a wide variety of custom signature cocktails and delicious foods in a fun and friendly atmosphere that is quite unique. Excellent prices also... 👍

Outside seating, nice. Music outside as well, 1980's music. Food was great, service good, overall it was great and relaxing. I will be returning to cowtippers.

This “hidden gem” is absolutely AMAZING! The food was delicious, and the service was top notch for the type of venue and environment (which is awesome). The people (customers) are what really sets this place apart. Everyone was so nice, social, and in great spirits. I’m so glad a local friend brought us here. It wasn’t mentioned in the “traditional touristy” brochures.

Food was spiced to perfection. We ordered the rins loaded fries and baked potatoe. The service well had lot to be desired. It was party of four on a Monday evening. We waited for refill. He the server came back after we were almost done. The food was great. It is about 17.00 per entree. 2 of us ordered steak two ordered ribs. I think the ribs were the better value.

Found this place by searching steak restaurants in Atlanta and loved the menu! I am so happy we chose it. The decor is very rustic and low-key, but the service (expect t-shirts and shorts) was impeccable! The food was excellent! We all ordered something different, steak, ribs and the San Antone Chicken all three were cooked perfectly as well as the vegetables and the baked sweet potatoes! But, definitely the starting high point was the fried pickles....they are a MUST have! Had plenty of food left over to take home! This will be a return spot for sure!

Great staff!! Love the atmosphere! Just went to meet some friends and was pleasantly surprised by an outside drag show! It was amazing and the hosts were friendly and funny! Patio is great for small medium groups. Pet friendly too.

I’ve been meaning to come here for a while, and I was not disappointed! The prices are on point, and the food is excellent. Try the bleu cheese bacon butter on your steak! Kaitlynn was our server, and man was she awesome! She balanced her tables perfectly and our food and drinks came out right on time. I will definitely be here again.

Visited for the first time and the experience was wonderful...from the greetings to the food ..no greater experience in the area thus far..Lance our waiter was excellent and knowledgeable about food choices and modifications to entrees. Staff professional and friendly. Food was fresh and decent quality. Places with good customer service are far and few..Thank you for setting the standard.

Went here about a month ago with my boyfriend and loved this restaurant. Our waitor was fantastic and our food was great. Tonight, me and my boyfriend were craving a good steak and wanted to go back. Safe to say, we will never be giving our service to this restaurant again. We were seated and blanataly ignored by all of the staff, who waited on everyone sitting around us, never approaching our table. We sat and talked and then began wondering why we hadn’t been greeted. We then decided to watch the time before we got up and left. We waited twenty minutes before we finally left. It was very obvious they had no intentions of serving us and they did not speak to us or try to make right as we were walking out the door. Very disappointing that people would treat others this way not only in the restaurant business but in general. Will be advising all of my friends and family of this as well.

Dinner was delicious. Dean was the perfect server. We will miss this landmark gay friendly Atlanta Iconic restaurant & bar! Hope to see the team at other great Metrotainment fun spots!Well they closed. Many of the team moved to Joe's on Juniper.

It's always a good time here. I use to love the fajita skirt steak, but they took it off the menu and now has something similar with hash browns. It's still good... But I gotta find a new favorite.

This place is a diamond in the rough. They have the BEST STEAKS IN ATLANTA... for the price. You can get a delicious sirloin and two sides for $17. They also have fun daily specials.. cheap burger Monday, taco Tuesday, movies on the patio... definitely check it out!

Couldn’t get our friends food right after two tries. They ended up just munching on fries. My burger was cooked well done, but I will take the blame since the waiter didn’t ask how I wanted it cooked and I failed to tell them. Menu felt uninspired. Pass this one by.

There is indoor and outdoor seating. The steaks are delicious and the selection of Tequila is impressive. On Friday, you get a free dessert if you order a steak. I asked for medium rare and got medium but the flavor was still superb.

Great place to eat. One of the first openly Gay restaurants I had ever been too. It was sad when I heard the news it was going to close, but apparently that has changed. Go Check them out.. the food is great. Staff is great.

I go here every time I visit Atlanta. Choice of indoor or outdoor seating. Friendly wait staff. A must for the LGBT tourist!

The staff and the food were amazing! This place is a lot of fun and the meal is great. Try this place out as I don’t believe you will be disappointed. I tried it while I was visiting Atlanta and I’m glad I did. Because I had a great meal with a very friendly and a attentive staff.

One of the best dives to go to for a quick bite to eat. The food is all over the place as you might have a one star experience and then a five-star experience on your next visit. The key here is to have some of their mixed drinks which honestly don’t taste that good but after one or two it will all taste good! I come here for the atmosphere which has a true blend of all people.

Delicious Steak cooked exactly like I ordered it! Decent amount on the sides. Spinach dip appetizer was good as well. Waiters were attentive and checked on us several times. It wasn't busy when we arrived but as we left the place was filling up quickly. Don't judge the place on first appearance. Unassuming on the outside but a gem on the inside!

Friendly and attentive service with an average beer menu. We tried the chicken and avocado sliders with a wedge salad. Both were were OK and we come back to dig a little deeper into the menu.
